South Sudan
In South Sudan, IFACE established relationships with stakeholders both in Juba, the Capital City South Sudan and in Greater Junglei State. Junglei State is called a “Red State” in South Sudan due to the long-standing conflicts and other hostilities, ranging from intercommunal, inter-clan and/tribal conflicts, cattle raiding, and political. In 2018 and 2019, IFACE has held several consultative meetings in Bor (the Administrative Headquarters of Greater Junglei State) and its environs, including Pibor, Duke, Twic, and Akobo. Meetings were held with a cross section of youths, local chiefs, local community leaders and other officials from the Junglei State Legislative Assembly, Office of the State Governor, etc. proved that there is a critical need for IFACE’s interventions in the Junglei State. The assessments carried out in the state were focused on livelihoods, peacebuilding, humanitarian, and education needs in the state.
