History
IFACE was founded in May 2004 in Ganta, Nimba County as a Community-Based Organisation in the aftermath of the Liberian Civil War. It was initially created to support former Children Associated with Armed Forces to return to and reintegrate into home communities as part of the National Disarmament, Demobilisation, Reintegration and Rehabilitation Programme.

Between 2005 and 2007, IFACE focused its efforts on psychosocial counselling to former Children Associated with Armed Forces and to facilitate their placement into public and private schools.

Between 2007 and 2016, IFACE continued to engage in small projects at the community level, including civic education programs, community health issues (community health clubs and school health clubs) in the Grand Cape Mount, Gbarpolu, and Bomi Counties.

IFACE became a registered National Civil Society Organisation in Liberia in July 27, 2016, with an expanded focus on good governance. IFACE continues to work with communities throughout Liberia for sustainable development and peace. In doing so, IFACE has implemented project on behalf of, and together with, USAID and DAI Global.

Our current focus areas include advocacy and community engagement, good governance, ending Sexual- and Gender-Based Violence, community health, peacebuilding and reconciliation, as well as Women, Peace and Security.
